This week is a historical one for the Young Boys of Berne. After having lacked efficiency in their game against Manchester United (#Mufc) last Wednesday and losing 0-3 to Jose Mourinho’s men, the Swiss capital city club gave a historical football lesson to FC Basel today and sent them home with an avalanche of 7 goals to 1, something no club has ever done to the giant, rich and powerful club of the Rhine city of Basel. FC Basel only defended themselves for the first 30 minutes and their coach did all wrong

Those who thought that the 3-0 defeat to Manchester United would leave its mark on YB were misled and can even be sure that the black-yellow club of Berne will be able to surprise Juventus Turin in the next Champions League game in which superstar Christiano Ronaldo will be suspended due to a severe red card suffered last week against FC Valencia. After a first half an hour full of hesitation on both sides, a corner kick from Sulejmani was perfectly headed into the opponents’ goal by Fassnacht (33rd) and a free kick from the same Sulejmani (41st) that hit first the post to found its way into Basel’s goal.

These two goals were enough to completely transform the physionomy of the game. At the break, Young Boys had already taken a big psychological leap forward.

In the second half, the visitors’ business was far from settled with the red card received by Balanta for a foul from behind on the excellent Ngamaleu. This action proved even more to be proof of the state of nervousness in which Marcel Koller’s men were in.

Then Aly Camara (52.) and Guillaume Hoarau (60.) doubled the score to 4:0 within 8 minutes to decide the match. Camara scored by head following a corner by the irresistible Sulejmani and Hoarau « the Frenchman »‘s goal was preceded by Serey Die’s loss of ball. The FCB players were repeatedly degraded to slalom poles and the neutral viewer asked himself why Basel’s coach Marcel Koller waited a whole hour to make changes in his bad team, leaving offensive players like Oberlin and Zuffi unemployed on the bench.

An avalanche of goals from the 70th minutes on

After Balanta’s red card, it was clear that Basel would never recover from the shock and all it would do was to limit the loss, avoiding a score heavier than 0 to 10 goals! Then followed a rain of goals. First in the 70th Minute as Aebischer practiced one touch football with Bertone and recovered the ball to score YB’s 5th goal. Perfect demonstration of efficient football!

In the 80th minute, the same Bertone is sent by Schick on the road of victory and the young Leonardo has no difficulties in scoring YB’s 6th goal of this memorable evening

The Bernese continue to show no mercy with the former serial champion FC Basel. Roger Assalé also scores. He gets so much time in the FCB box that he can dribble 3 Basel-defenders plus Goalie Martin Hansen. 7 to 1!!! Something Basel will never forget.

Hierarchy is clear now and YB is already swiss champion

With 12 points ahead of Basel, the Young Boys of Berne have as early as never before taken control of the Swiss league. Apart some critical injuries (Kevin Mbabu today, Djibril Sow in the game against Manchester United) nothing seems to be able to stop them from being, this year again, the Swiss champion that everybody awaits come May 2019.

We can even bet that swiss football fans will see very spectacular football when Christiano Ronaldo and his Juventus mates (World Cup finalists Mandzukic, Matuidi and many other superstars) come to Berne this December 12…

Ybchampion.ch will be there to bring you the best of football.

Hopp YB, Swiss pride !
